Harvest Fair 1776: The American Crisis
Historic Lewes' two-day living history fair recreating the autumn of 1776, 250 years later.
Event Details
Historic Lewes marks the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution by recreating the uneasy harvest season of 1776 on its Shipcarpenter Street campus. Costumed interpreters portray Lewes townspeople coping with news of Washington’s retreat while still celebrating a good harvest.
Visitors can watch soldiers drill, see a blacksmith and other tradespeople at work, shop a market of historically inspired vendors, and enjoy live music, a Punch and Judy puppet show, a camera obscura, and a hot air balloon. Period-inspired food and drink are available all weekend.
Hours are Saturday 10 AM–4 PM and Sunday 10 AM–3 PM.
