Event Details
A uniquely Delawarean, biennial tradition held only in even-numbered years on the Thursday following Election Day. Winning and losing candidates parade together in horse-drawn carriages around The Circle in Georgetown, a town crier reads the official election results aloud, and party leaders ceremonially ‘bury the hatchet’ in a tub of sand. The celebration includes a free ox roast, live entertainment, vendors, and a Mayors’ Hatchet Toss.
