Kevin’s story begins in Buffalo, New York, where he was born and raised. Later, he spent time in Syracuse, New York, a region known for its long winters and freezing temperatures.

Growing up in upstate New York meant learning the value of hard work early. Kevin entered the HVAC industry as a young man, working side-by-side with his father. For nearly a decade, Kevin learned the trade directly from him.

After years in the trade, Kevin eventually moved to Delaware and continued working in the HVAC industry. With experience under his belt and the confidence to branch out on his own, he launched ABC Comfort Solutions. Today, the company has been operating for around 15 years and has grown into a well-established HVAC business serving communities across Delaware.

Even while running a successful HVAC company, Kevin carried another dream quietly in the back of his mind: opening a coffee shop. It wasn’t something he actively pursued for years. It was simply an idea that stuck with him.

Then one day while driving through Odessa, Kevin noticed a property for sale. The building had once been a gas station and had sat vacant for over 35 years. For many people, it might have looked like just another abandoned structure, but Kevin saw something different. He saw potential. He imagined a welcoming coffee shop where people could gather, talk, work, and relax.

So he made an offer on the building the very same day. That decision led to the creation of Corner Grounds Café.

For Kevin, the biggest difference between the café and his HVAC business was the energy. In HVAC, customers are often calling because something has gone wrong — the heat stopped working, the AC broke during a heatwave, or a system needs urgent repair.

At a coffee shop, the atmosphere is completely different. People walk in smiling. They come in relaxed. They come in happy.

That’s exactly what Kevin wanted. His vision was simple: create a place where people could forget about their stress for a little while. And that vision has become reality.

One of the things customers notice immediately about Corner Grounds Café is the welcoming environment. The space feels warm, comfortable, and inviting. Many visitors spend hours there working remotely, networking, or simply enjoying the atmosphere.

Since the rise of remote work, especially after the COVID era, coffee shops have become popular places for professionals to work outside their homes. Kevin has seen that trend firsthand. People regularly bring laptops, hold meetings, or simply enjoy a quiet place to focus.

Kevin says the networking alone has been incredible, not only for the café, but even for his HVAC business.

One of the biggest surprises for Kevin came not long after opening. Corner Grounds Café was voted Best Coffee Shop in the Area — a huge honor considering the competition from larger chains.

For Kevin, the award was both exciting and humbling. He credits the recognition entirely to the community that supported the café from the beginning. Without that support, he says, none of it would have been possible.

Life Outside of Business

When Kevin isn’t running his HVAC company or the café, he enjoys spending time with his family. He describes himself as more of a home-and-family person than someone constantly out on the town. Kevin is engaged to his fiancée Karen, and they enjoy simple activities like cooking out, spending time together, and relaxing at home.

One of Kevin’s biggest passions outside of work is classic cars. He regularly attends local car shows and is always on the lookout for another addition to his collection.

Some of his dream cars include:

• A 1965 Mustang
• A 1969 Chevelle

He already owns a restored 1937 Chevy sedan delivery with a Corvette engine under the hood, a project he takes great pride in.

Kevin is also an animal lover and has a yellow Labrador named Sadie, who even inspired a special drink at the café.

Giving back is also important to him. Whenever possible, Kevin and his businesses try to support community initiatives and help people in need.

Ask Kevin what he’s most grateful for, and his answer is simple: the people. From loyal customers to supportive community members, he says the success of Corner Grounds Café belongs to everyone who walks through the door. Kevin remains committed to continuing what he started — creating a place where people feel welcome, relaxed, and appreciated.

And judging by the steady crowd of customers who fill the café each day, that mission is clearly working.

As Kevin often says: “Just come in, sit down, talk, do your work. It’s all about taking care of people.”
