Local’s Off Season Restaurant Deals in Delaware

Local's season is here. Our team rounded up the best off-season restaurant specials at the Delaware beaches, from $1 oysters to burger nights, night by night.

The last rental checks out, the traffic on Route 1 thins, and something shifts. You can park on Rehoboth Avenue again. The bartender in Lewes remembers your order. Welcome to local’s season, the stretch from October to about Memorial Day when the people who live here get their beach towns back.

It’s also when the restaurants start competing for us. Our team tracks 412 weekly specials at 83 restaurants in 10 towns on our Off-Season Specials page, from $1 oysters to half-price wine bottles. Here’s how we’d spend the season, plus the deals worth planning a weeknight around.

The off-season belongs to the people who stay

Summer at the Delaware beaches runs on visitors. In 2020, Sussex County’s seasonal population was nearly 43% the size of its year-round population, according to DelDOT's Sussex County Long Range Transportation Plan. When that wave heads home after Labor Day, the year-round crowd keeps the lights on.

And that crowd keeps growing. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates Sussex County at 277,140 residents as of July 2025, up 16.8% since 2020. Sussex also led the state in growth from 2024 to 2025, per USAFacts. More neighbors means busier dining rooms in January, and restaurants know exactly who they’re cooking for.

That’s why the specials exist. They’re a thank-you to everyone who shows up on a cold Tuesday.

Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats on Rehoboth Avenue runs a special five nights a week this off-season.

Weeknights are the new Saturday

Here’s something we noticed while building the list. Thursday has more specials than any other night (88), with Wednesday right behind (87). Saturday has just 14.

That flips the summer playbook. In July, a Tuesday dinner out is an afterthought. In local’s season, it’s the main event. Monday brings burger nights and fish boards. Tuesday is tacos and lobster. Wednesday means $1 oysters. Thursday stacks crab cakes, prime rib and half-price pizza. Pick a night and there’s a deal waiting.

Can’t decide? Hit Pick for Me

Every household has had the “I don’t care, you pick” standoff. We built a button for that. On the Off-Season Specials page, tap Pick for Me and it lands on a special for you. Not feeling it? Hit Spin Again until something sounds right.

Prefer to browse? The list opens on today’s specials. Tap a night, pick a town, filter by type, or search for something specific like oysters or tacos.

Find the specials in your town

Every town has its own rhythm in the off-season. Jump straight to yours:

Specials change without notice, so give the restaurant a quick call before you go. We update the list as restaurants send us changes. Restaurant owners, send us your specials and we’ll add them.

The off-season is our favorite season at the beach. Quiet roads, open tables and a server who already knows you want the Old Bay wings. That’s the version of these towns we get to share with you every fall, and it’s a big part of why so many people decide to stay.

If you’re wondering what it would be like to live here year-round, compare the Delaware beach towns side by side, or browse more local favorites from our agents. And if you want a second opinion on where to eat Thursday night, ask any of us. We have opinions.
